6 Stations on Site

Solar read more…

Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for community solar programs at the LADWP, no-cost rooftop solar programs with GRID Alternatives, and solar workforce training programs with IBEW local 18. Additionally, our partners at YouthBuild will be building live solar demos and a model solar tiny home.

Electric Vehicles read more…

Attendees will have the opportunity to qualify for a no/low-cost “vehicle swap” program where they can trade in their polluting vehicle for a hybrid or electric vehicle. Communities for a Better Environment and “Charge Ahead” coalition will be offering an electric vehicle test drive course.

Mobility read more…

Attendees will receive free bike safety courses from Multicultural Communities for Mobility, as well as demo the new “bike share” stations planned for Mariachi Plaza and other surrounding communities. Free helmets and bike lights will be available.

Food read more…

Attendees will find information on safe gardening, vegan cooking demos, and urban agriculture using hydroponics. This is an especially timely issue as community members are concerned about local soil contamination from the nearby Excide facility[i], and limited healthy food options.

Services read more…

Attendees will receive energy and water efficiency information and services from LADWP and SoCal Gas. Attendees will receive information on soil testing and free/uncontaminated soil, as well as free fruit trees and herbs for their garden.

Art read more…

Attendees will experience a “Solutions Corridor,” walk-through art and photo gallery produced by local youth and artists creating a vision for a cleaner and healthier eastside.
